Lauren still has a pacifier (at 17 months I know thats wrong) she only uses it at nap and bed time, and when it is really needed throughout the day (excuses i know!). And I KNOW she doesn't need it because she doesn't use it at the babysitters, but I think I am more attached than she is, so I am the problem it looks like :) We call the pacifier a sas, not sure why we do.. Amiee's kids have always called it that and it just works. And lauren knows how to say sas and she shrugs her shoulders when she say's it (like where is my sas). Needless to say it is adorable! Any ways, we were on our way home and the first thing she ALWAYS says when she gets in my car is CHEESE (because she loves string cheese and I try to have a snack for her when we drive home, because when I get off at 5 she is hungry and the 10 minute drive home is a lot easier when she is happy!) so as we were driving (and she was done with her cheese) she says "sas go peas" (let me interperet that for you... Where did my sas go, can I have it please) First of all that was THREE words she said together and her little voice is SO cute, so I couldn't take it and I gave her the sas. I have no backbone when it comes to this child.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of the sas? I keep thinking when she is 18 months I will take it away, and now that she is almost 18 months I am a little worried so I am trying to talk myself into taking it away when she is 2! CRAP
In other news..
Lauren is doing fantastic, and she is growing so fast and talking more and more each day! She is trying to repeat some things that we say (and sometimes her dad gets caught when Lady Lauren try's to repeat some words he says.. so dad is working on that!)
Lauren really likes Dora the Explorer and we watch her in the morning before we go (mostly so I can have some time to get ready without her at my feet)
She takes a long time to warm up to people. It is halarious when she is around someone she doesn't know, she won't look at them.. Even if the are right in her face she will try her hardest to look around them! Her face is priceless though when she is being shy, she almost has the eye roll down (which scares me) but she is a very shy girl at first!
She has an attitude with a capital A! Starting to throw herself on the floor when things don't go her way! It is awesome expecially when we are in a crowd of people.. like the ward christmas party!
Promise to post pictures soon.. work keeps me busy busy, but we get 2 weeks of for Christmas and I am SO SO HAPPY!

Well, McKie had his binkie for a lot longer than 17 months, and it was hard for us... but what I started doing is snipping a tiny hole in it so it didn't suck right, and then made it bigger until he didn't WANT it anymore, so it was his idea! He's the only one that had a binkie, so it's been a while!
Whitney had her binky until a couple of weeks after her 2nd birthday. By then, she was pretty much ready and I just took them away and told her they were gone when she asked. It only took a couple of days for her to quit asking.
The older they get the harder it gets is what it seems like for me. We tried the snipping thing and it didn't really work, so I just made Hailey and Kennedy quit cold turkey. I just took it away one day and that was that. It took them just a couple of days to get used to it and then it was like they never remembered having one.
