Girls Camp

I had the opportunity (for the 3rd year in a row) to be the Byron Camp Director (the first year I went, I was the assistant). I love Girls Camp, so I was excited to go with these girls! The theme this year was "Arise and Shine forth, that thy light may be a Standard to the Nations." Sometimes the planning part of camp can be overwhelming (and this year I had a hard time finding idea's for this theme, because they also had an Olympic twist to it as well. However, at the last minute of course; I came up with some pretty cool stuff!)

These were my girls (getting ready for their skit, hence the wig on Jamie!)

Jamie could not get enough of the wig! She had to stay in charactor until the skit - I suppose she needed to feel and really be the part!! Haha! I love her humor!

That night they had a dance. I was concerned that this dance wouldn't be much fun, because I have never heard of a dance a Girls Camp - but it was a BLAST!! I forget how much fun you have when you let your hair down ;) The girls who were in charge of the dance, I guess you could call them the DJ's did an awesome job involving everyone, and I think everyone had a fun time!

The second day was certification day, and I was in charge of the 3rd years. After we got them certified there was time to spair to play some games! They had to rearainge themselves to be in birth order without falling of the log (they fell of the log many times, but they sure tryed not too!)

That afternoon they did Olympic games - which were so fun! I helped with the game where you take a tarp and you try to fit your whole group on it (groups where about 8 girls) then when you could fit everyone on - you fold it in half, and you see how small you can fold it. It was amazing to see the team work and how small the groups could get it!

That night ended off with some Snipe Hunting!! Turns out that Snipes don't like tooth paste (that is new to me!) Poor Macey was our only 1st year that hadn't been on a Snipe hunt!!

The next morning was the Hike. I chose the 3rd year hike because it was the longest and I felt like I needed to be cool or something and choose the longest hike. I'm glad I did, but BOY-O-BOY was I sore!!

We ended the 3rd day with Testimony meeting, which is always so spiritual. And I am blown away by these Young Women and their strong testimonies! And I learned so much from them, and they all helped strengthen my testimony! It is sometimes a wonder why we go through all the trouble for Girls Camp, and then when you get there - you remember why! It is a time where the girls can bond and where leaders can bond with the girls!

This was when we had cleaned our cabins and where ready to leave (YAH!).

Fun, Fun, Fun

I guess it turned into a pretty good night!

Don't Shoot Your Eye Out!

For Christmas Erik just HAD to get Lauren a BB Gun, and we haven't done anything with it until just now! Erik was glowing with pride when he was telling Lauren how to shoot the gun! And dear sweet Lauren is such a girly girl, but she enjoyed it because her dad enjoyed it!!

We were a  little late getting our pump going, and so when the girls saw the "sprinkles" as Lauren calls them, the girls had to play in/with the water!

I didn't get a picture of how it started, but it includes Erik and the girls in the sand box making mud, or as Erik would say making the perfect consistency of sand and water to make a sand castle! So after getting sand in places I won't name we stripped the girls down.

 This is a better view! Haha! We finally got the swimsuits on :)

Nothing better than playing with the hoses, and soaking up some sun!

Trimmin' Tree's

Erik loves to work in the yard, and make improvments where ever he can. So this year was the year for trimming tree's! I didn't get any before and after shots, but he did wonders on our Lilac tree!

 When trimming tree's there has to be a clean up crew, and that job was given to Lauren and I... wait, did I say Lauren, I really just meant I - if I am putting it that way I suppose I should say me!
Lauren just played in the truck the whole time! But she had so much fun in there, and it makes my heart happy because she was having a great time, I remember those times when I should have been helping my mom and dad, but played instead! She did have a ball and entertained herself for about 3 hours you know singing, dancing, writing notes, reading stories, bossing someone around on the phone, and all sorts of fun stuff!

 She did take a little time away from playing to get a picture with her mom!

So I wasn't completely honest when I said Lauren didn't help, because apparently I have proof that she is carrying a branch. But I thought this picture was so funny because we have a book called "Sometimes I like to curl up in a ball" and this picture looks just like one of the illustrations in that book.

See for yourself! This part always makes me giggle because that little mole looks so silly!

 Sawyer gratefully slept through most of the tree trimming fun, but came out at the end just in time to catch up on her Wyoming Game and Fish Regulations!

 This is what happens when I say "say cheese".... I get nothing! Ah well, they are still cute anyways!

Lauren's Dance Recital

Lauren had her 2nd dance recital of the year on April 26! Lauren loves dance and she loves her teacher Miss Candida! The songs that Lauren danced to were Bumble Bee Boogie and Every Girl can be a Princess. I am writing this post a month late, and Lauren has still got those dances memorized! Lauren is so funny when she gets nervous, she either sticks her finger in her nose (makes me so proud) or she sticks her tounge out and moves it around! Haha, I am sure I never did anything embarrasing like that when I was younger!

It was so fun to watch Lauren up on stage and to see how much braver she has gotten since her last recital! Erik is so funny and always tells Lauren that she needs to be a basketball player and not a dancer! One night I heard Erik in the bedroom with Lauren playing with her dolls and in a girly voice to play the part of one of her dolls he said " basketball is so much better than dance, you should probably play basketball and be cool like me huh?!" Haha! Their doll conversation continued on, and who knows what else they talked about!! I think after the dance recital Erik thought that dance would be acceptable for a few more years!!
