Lauren's Blessing & more...

Last Sunday Lauren was blessed, and she behaved very well as usual! She still sleeps quite a bit and thats just what she did during her blessing :) Here are a few pictures of her in her blessing dress... I took some pictures of her laying on the grass but they looked kind of weird so we just stuck to the camo blanky!!
This picture with her dad took a lot of work, I had to convince him that it would be the cutest picture EVER (and I was right) but I had to be fast with the camera to catch this moment!!
And lately when I am with Erik and Lauren and someone says wow look at that hair, I am not quite sure if they are talking about Lauren or Erik because haha look at that hair!! It was funny because the other day Erik told me that I should cut my hair and I just laughed and said I would when he cuts his:) So we will see what happens!
Lauren looks like she is picking her nose in this one, but I assure you that she isn't. We won't teach her that until she is at least one or so!!
The Family
School is starting soon and I am not really to excited about it, so any moms who have gone to school while raising a child don't be afraid to give me some advice. I am doing all online classes (hopefully) I just recently found the classes I need online at Western Wyoming Community College and so I signed up for them, and I hope I can still get in. I am sure I will be fine but just thinking about school sucks because right now I am having fun just worrying about Lauren and nothing else. But I am hoping that I can get into a routine with the online classes and Lauren, and set specific times each day for each class. (however that is asking A LOT for me to be that productive but I will sure give it a try!) I have done online classes before (and passed!!) so we will see what happens.
In the wonderful world of the Bassett family nothing to exciting has happend. One of Eriks best friends brother Brad Mickelson recently died so we have been dealing with that. My family was able to help out the Mickelson by giving them a casket. I know that sounds weird, but my dad has built caskets for the people in my family that have passed away. He would build them to keep thier death off his mind, and then my family would all come out and help with anything that he needed. But it was always nice to be surrounded by family at that time. Anyways I got a little off track, this winter my dad was just experimenting and built a casket out of tounge and grove wood that he had left over and he just had it sitting in the shop. When he heard about Brad he called me and asked me if I would ask the Mickelsons if they would like to have it. My dad wanted me to ask them because he didn't think he could, I am just a emotional but I told them. Some of them came out and helped but the lining inside the casket, and I hope that it helped them out a little to be around family. I don't think I have met a more gracious family because everytime I see one of them they say thankyou to me, and I didn't do anything but tell them about it. They are such a great family, and they are so lucky to have each other at this time of grief. That is what I love about small communities, is that everyone helps out. It is such a sad thing when someone dies, but everyones support is what helps us get through it. Keep the Mickelsons in your prayers.
Hope you all have a good day!

T'is the Season

You are probably wondering what season I am talking about, but if you know who I am married to you will know I am talking about HUNTING SEASON!! You are also probably wondering why I am talking about HUNTING SEASON so early, but once again if you know Erik he will find any way and do anything to HUNT as long as he can, and it just so happens that he has an archery tag to HUNT antelope that opens on Friday the 15th.
Erik needed a new bow this year because his is pretty old, so today we went to Cody and bought him a brand spankin' new bow! It about made us both cry when we bought it because they cost a pretty penny, but he has hunting on the brain so it didn't slow him down one bit! But the trip to Cody was really fun, and really over due. Things have been crazy around the house with getting the hang of things with Lauren and Eriks crazy work schedule, so it was nice to be able to hang out with my husband for a chance, and Lauren just slept the whole time and Erik and I got to catch up it seemed like!! It was especially fun for me because I got to get out of the house, and I am always up for a trip to Cody or just a trip anywhere:) Anyways back to HUNTING!! I know most of you know that Erik is a HUNTING fanatic but I don't know if you know what i live in.... Our house is extra small and I mean extra small, but it doesn't stop Erik from showing off his deer. So in our house that is extra small we have a total of 11 deer and antelope mounts in that extra small house of ours. How you ask, let me show you!!
The first three pictures take place in the living room, and no it is not an illusion there is really a total of seven deer in our living room! Erik must just like to live with a lot of deers (Lauren and I can be quite deer our self!)
And for all you out there who don't know much about deer the two deer on the right are mule deer because of there large ears and they usually have a wider rack, and the one on the left is a white tail and if you could see the tail you could see the white undernieth and there horns all come off the same beam while mule deers horns fork off (or something like that!) Now see if your can tell what the other deer are!!
He was actually on a hunting show with his dad when he shot this one!! Yeah, my husband is a movie star:)
Like I said we are still in the living room!
Now we are on to the back room..
and I promise this is it!! So you see what I live with, I guess if I get bored talking to lauren I can always strike up a conversation with the animal in my house!! But some day when we have our own house Erik claims he is going to have a trophy room and that is where all the deer will go so we can have some wall space for pictures and fancy stuff like that!
This is last years kill, and yes it is mounted on our wall!
Thats right this is me with my first deer! It is a dink, but the first deer I tried to shoot, I failed but it was a fun experience! It was bigger than this deer, but not by too much. Erik had me army crawling and climbing over and under fences. But he made the mistake when he thought i could rest the gun on a barb wire fence. It didn't work so well because I was shaking so bad because I was nervous and scarred. So when I shot this buck we were on a cliff looking down and I was able to rest the gun on solid ground.
Erik told me today that he found some deer that aren't big enough for him to shoot but he says I can shoot one!! The high expectation he has for me :)
Lauren wouldn't be Eriks girl if she didn't have camo, and thanks to Shannon she has got her camo and is ready for HUNTING SEASON!
This one I am saving for Friday, the opening day of Eriks HUNTING SEASON, and I will make an orange bow to go in her hair so she will still look girly!

Visitors

This last week Eriks oldest sister Kimberly, came down to Lovell for some LeaSophia parties and it just so happend that Hillary got to come down the day before Kimberly left. So Tuesday night they invited Laruen and I to come over to their parents house to all hang out! It was a full house too, Kimberly and her two daugthers Hailey and Kennedy; Hillary and her son marcus; and later in the evening Shannon and her kids McKie and Ansleigh; and of course Grandma Debbie! It was really fun getting to know them better because Hillary lives in Idaho and Kimberly lives in Casper so we don't get to see them very often. It is pretty quiet at my house and I am running out of things to talk about with Lauren so any adult interaction is great these days!! And being with moms was even better because we talked abou the joys and not so joyious things about being a mom!
Here we are getting ready to go visit her aunts and cousins
All of Debbies grandkids together for the first time!
Sweet little Hailey who loves the camera:)

They love their new cousin and want another brother or sister (ok Danin... you know you want another one right now!!)

Willie wanted to get to know Lauren!
And thats all she wrote!! Lauren had enough playing for the night!

Baby Shower

Last Wednesday was Laurens baby shower. Lila, Kandace, and Aimee were the planners of it all and they did an AWESOME job!! Thanks girls!

Lauren was a hit at her party and she behaved very well!

Here she is with Grandma Great Allred ( I think this was the best picture of the night!)

The party was so fun, and we got a lot of great stuff! THANKS!!

p.s. i just found my connector for my camera to the computer so that is why i have so many posts in such a short time, but i just had to wait for the pictures because pictures make it so much more fun to read!! haha well i hope you all enjoy:)

Splish, Splash!

These are pictures of Lauren's first baths, the baths took place at Grandma Jolley's house because Lauren does NOT like baths very much and when she cry's she about makes me cry too. So Grandma got to be the bad guy:)
I did try to give her a sponge bath the day before but I thought I was doing something wrong because Lauren cried so hard, and all I washed was her legs and then I was done!

ROUND 1

This first one was a sponge bath, and the pictures are taken after what seemed like her first beating instead of bath! The poor girl did not appreciate us trying to keep her clean! Me and my dad both about had to leave the house because we felt so bad for her, because she has a bit of a temper and she knows how to cry!

And she made it through her first bath! Thanks Grandma Jolley:)

ROUND 2

The 2nd bath was in a tub, and it started off ok...

Still doing ok untill...

She realized what was going on, and remember that she HATES baths!!

But Grandma Jolley has been through this many times and we managed to get through it!

After a few more baths she is getting better, but i have to make them quick because she does good for about 2 or 3 minutes and then she has had enough with the bath!

Picture Day!

On Saturday my mom, Lila, Lauren and I all went up to Billings for Laurens first shopping trip and to get her first pictures taken at Kiddie Kandids! I was a little worried about the trip because sometimes Lauren doesn't like to be in her car seat, but she did SO good! It was so cute when we were in Walmart Lila and I were checking out and my mom took Lauren and was waiting by the door, and when we were leaving the lady that greets people saw my mom with Lauren and said isn't it fun to be on Princess watch! I thought that was the cutest little saying for babysitting!! But enough with that I will show you the pictures of my "Princess"!

She is 2 weeks and 3 days old in these pictures!

I did this one especially for her dad with the camo blanket! She almost looks like she has a little smile in this one (she probably is just messin her pants)!

This one is my absolute FAVORITE!

She did so good at the photo shoot I was so proud of her, and the people at Kiddie Kandids did a great job too, we will definitly be going back!

Our baby GIRL!

This is the newest member to our family!
Lauren Frances Bassett
She was born July 2 at 6:07am
7 pounds 14 oz
20 inches long

This is the family (i am filled up with 3 bags of IV fluids so excuse the chubby face, i promise it has gone down!) Everything went really well with the birth, I had a dr. appointment on Tuesday the 1st and when i went in my blood pressure was high and my feet, legs and hands were swelling really bad and dr. ellis said that i would probably have her the next day but they wanted to monitor me that night. So I went home and told Erik that we were going to have a baby and the nesting instinct kicked in over time! Then at about 4:30 that afternoon we left for the hospital. It still wasn't sinking in that we were going to have a baby but away we went to powell. They checked us in and i got hooked up on the monitors that i stayed hooked on to for the remander of the birth (not so fun). The nurses we AWESOME and they made my first experience of have a child great. Dr. Ellis did a wonderful job too! I was dialating too fast so i didn't get an epidural, but i got a spinal block and that made everything so much better. I was able to relax becasue i had a LONG night, and i think erik liked the spinal block just as much as i did!! I do have to say the husbands do have it rough as well (well at least my husband did!) But erik was great the whole night, he would rub anything, anywhere, at any time i asked! Even when i told him not to touch me a couple times, he was always there for me! I couldn't have asked for a better MAN!! Then Lauren came at 6:07 in the morning, and when the doctor pulled her out he put her right on my chest and erik and i didn't know what we were having so i asked what it was and dr. ellis and the nurses were like oh we dont' know!! and they checked and it was a GIRL! A girl with lots of hair!!

Erik and I new we liked the name Lauren but we weren't sure on a middle name. So that day we had to brain storm for a middle name for our sweet little girl, and we decided to name her after Eriks Grandma Fran Bassett! The name fits her so well!

I have to say thank you to Kimberly for the pictures! I havn't got my pictures uploaded yet, so i will put more of our little girl on here later!

She has been such a good baby so far, she just eats and sleeps! She is starting to eat every 3 hours instead of 2 so i am getting a little more sleep for the time being. Lauren had already got Erik wrapped around her finger! Erik is so good with her, I always new he would be a good dad!
